Is jack link beef jerky a healthy snack?

Michelle asked:

I’m trying to lose weight and I’m looking for more snack options. It’s a good source of protein, low calorie, low fat AND low carb! High in sodium though.

The sodium is bad, but it is pretty healthy and good for you otherwise!
I like beef jerky in the little 100 cal pouches.

No. It’s super high in salt. Try eating apples, pears, deviled eggs, popcorn, wheat crackers–any number of better alternatives.

YES, besides some of the jerky manufacturers that put soy sauce in everything, jerky products are very healthy. It seems like you know what you’re looking for in your diet, so that’s a great start.

Check out because they have some pages with products that are either low-carb or low-calorie. They are obviously all low in fat. Just be sure to check to see if the jerky contains additives or preservatives if you are going for an all natural jerky.

To answer the question though…YES, although there are a ton of jerky manufacturers that are healthier than Jack Links.

Have a good one and good luck with the diet.
