what if a dog does? My dog got into a pack of jerky, and I’m not SURE he ate it, but there oxygen absorber packet was empty.

Nothing. If it were that dangerous it wouldn’t be in food.
It’s not very tasty - my mate tried once and felt very ill from the taste. He felt better after a few glasses of water and was fine.
Give your dog lots of water.
It is called a dessicant. Usually made of silicon. Should pass right on thru.
These packet are nothing more than iron filings. The filings react with the moisture in the packet and “eat” all the available oxygen in the bag until there is no more. This makes a great natural preservative. It is actually better than vacuum packaging. What makes them really great is, if you have a small leak in the bag or a semi-porous bag they will continue to preserve your product until you rust all the iron. You and your dog should be ok, but I can’t vouch for the flavor enhancement :-).
Toxic
I dont know
you could get sick
call poison control
No worries.
These people on here are idiots, it wouldn’t say DO NOT EAT if it wasn’t harmful, it is harmful to humans because the silcone beads that they are made of, absorb liquid and expand….for animals, I imagine it is the same way, your dog will fall ill if he ate it. If they didn’t go down his throat all the way, the beads could swell and cut off oxygen supply. I would call your vet to make sure you dont need to take him in right away. Watch your dogs behavior for a day or so and make sure he doesn’t start choking. I don’t mean to scare you but it may not be as simple as people say it is. I would not take any chances with my pet.
